Virginia hires BYU's Bronco Mendenhall as next coach.
While this move comes as a surprise, Mendenhall did mention in April that he felt BYU needed to be in a Power Five conference within three years. It appears that with no momentum toward that happening, Mendenhall decided if BYU wasn't going to be a Power Five program, at least he could be a Power Five coach.
I heard that Mendenhall really has not liked having to do independent scheduling.
Also with BYU only having just Gonzaga as a major hurdle in the WCC, that things have not gone well on that front. Sounds like it is a lack of competition kind of thing.
MWC gets rid of Hawaii and then brings in BYU as the 12th team for all sports, is something I could see happening.
