Siakam, the 6-9, 230 pound All-American forward for the Aggies from Douala, Cameroon, said that he wanted to make the declaration to evaluate his professional opportunities. In accord with NCAA Proposal No. 2015-32 that was adopted in January 2016, Siakam does not plan hire an agent so that he can maintain his NCAA eligibility.
The unanimous choice as 2016 Western Athletic Conference Player of Year, Siakam was named as an honorable mention AP All-America Team, as well as named to the Lou Henson Award All-America Team. He was selected All-District by both the NABC and USBWA, a finalist for the Lou Henson Award as mid-major player of the year and a finalist for the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
