Certainly not all the recruits will pan out, but there are really 2 to 3 guard positions on the floor. If you go 2 deep everywhere (probably an ideal state, granted) you need 4-6 guys playing at a highevel to cover the guard rotations.

There is also the theory of grabbing the best talent one can get, regardless of position and mold them into something untraditional. Not sure where Coach Weir is headed with this, to be honest.
