LAS CRUCES, N.M.-Head cross country and track and field coach Orin Richburg has announced the incoming freshman/transfer class for the upcoming season.
The men's cross country squad will add three runners and the women's squad will add two runners to an already talented team.
Paul Raymond from Ecole Secondaire Catholic Theriault, Timmins, Ontario, will join Christopher Silva from Indo High School, Indo, Calif., and Andreas Gonzales from St. Michael's High School, Santa Fe, N.M.
Raymond ran the 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m, 5K and 7K in Canada. Silva ran both track and cross country in high school, posting a personal-best time of 15:48.30 in the 5K. Gonzales also ran track and cross country, posting his personal-best time of 16:17.42 in the 5K.
On the women's side, NM State added Mayra Chaves from Eisenhower High School, Yakima, Wash., and Sarabel Bojorquez from Central Arizona Community College, Airz. Chaves ran track and cross country in high school, running a personal-best time of 18:25.60 in the 5K. Bojorquez also ran track and cross country at CACC, earning a personal-best time of 18:24.25 in the 5K.
Four athletes were also added to the track and field roster for NM State. Latricia Brooks of Skyline High School, Dallas, Texas, Brianna Cromartie from Central Arizona Community College, Ariz., Alysha Bolduc of Goddard High School, Roswell, N.M., and Kelsey Gonzales of Alamogordo High School, Alamogordo, N.M., will join the Aggie track and field team.
Brooks ran the 400m and 800m in high school, posting her career-best times of 57.11 and 2:11.79 respectively. In 2012, Cromartie ran the 60m, 200m, 400m and 600m in the indoor season and the 200m and 400m in the outdoor season. Bolduc ran the 100m and the 300m in high school, posting her best times of 15.00 and 44.92 respectively. Gonzales ran the 400m in high school, posting her personal-best time of 57.64 in the event.
The cross country team opens up the season on Aug. 31 in Albuquerque, N.M., with the Lobo Invitational.
