Tarleton in year 3 of 4 transitioning to FCS. Doesn’t appear CUSA is interested in them at the moment but Tarleton is not shy about their desire and have lots of resources.
SFA doesn’t appear to be interested in moving to FBS at the moment for monetary reasons. They may want out of the WAC but no necessarily a return to SLC. ASUN may be a possibility.
Missouri St a viable candidate but reports are they would prefer an SBC invite.
EKU also a candidate. WKU president said it was nonsense that they would block them, not how it works. Then in not so many words told how KSU was a better option.
Central Arkansas could be another candidate but appears will not be getting an invite. Not sure if their intentions to move up to FBS. Have heard that they have had small talks about moving to SLC even though they recently moved to ASUN
Delaware would like to move up to FBS and could be a target for CUSA but they may prefer a better geographic fit.
McNeese St rebuilding after 2020 hurricane has stalled their move to FBS. Decided against move to WAC. Said the air was let out of the room when NMSU and SHSU left for CUSA.
@all4onecusa mentioned Illinois St also an option
Matt Brown from Extra Point says North Alabama and Austin Peay could be a candidate pool. UNA just finished transitioning to D1 in 22/23 year and has 14 sponsored sports
Arvizu has said on Jack Nixon halftime show, that CUSA has had a number of applications. Moccia has also said that expansion not necessarily only FCS transitioning schools as possibilities, then mentioned FBS ready. Anything else?h
