With Clif Smart stepping down as president of Missouri St, it was announced that Richard “Biff” Williams will succeed him as the 12th President. Smart was in favor of moving up to FBS and also of rumors of moving to CUSA. With today’s announcement, Williams former Utah Tech President, has gone through the process of moving from D2 to FCS. Appears on track with the rumors so far. Williams also has a doctorate from New Mexico St. Speculation is that an announcement could be coming in April from the outgoing and incoming Missouri State Presidents Williams was 1 of 5 finalists for NMSU president. We might have screwed that up.

I don’t know who would be best for President but I would favor Dr Austin Lane. I know the controversy is hard to overlook but seeing as how SIU dug in and investigated on that very subject and still hired him as chancellor, I think he would be best for athletics

IDK if any of those remaining are best fit.
Looking over Austin Lane's resume, he doesn't mention doing anything for athletics at SIU-C and TSU. The only mention is when he was at Tyler Junior College when he was the Executive Vice President for Student Affairs where one of the many things he did was provided leadership to Intercollegiate Athletics.
Current Position: Chancellor Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Illinois May 2020 to Present Former: President Texas Southern University Houston, Texas May 2016 to February 2020
John Volin only mentions a student athletic success program he oversaw at University of UCONN while he was Vice Provost for Academic Affair's.
Current Position: Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, University of Maine (2020 – Present)
Wayne E. Jones Jr. has zero mentions of Athletics in he resume.
Current Position: 2018 – Present Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, University of New Hampshire
Michael Galyean and NMSU grad, also zero mentions of athletics in his resume.
Current Position: Paul Whitfield Horn Distinguished Professor, Department of Veterinary Sciences, Texas Tech University, Lubbock – July 2021 to present
Richard B. Williams was the only one with a decent resume regarding athletics. Lane is the only other candidate with experience running a university.

It appears that the regents agreed with you. Biff was our guy. Hopefully a new search will come up with some good candidates.
